The Baruch College’s Master of Financial Engineering Program won First Place (out of 52 teams) at the 14th Rotman International Trading Competition held in February 2017 in Toronto.
This is our second win in a row after the record-breaking win from 2016, and the third win all-time, after winning RITC 2012.
The performance of the Baruch MFE team this year even surpassed the consistence of the record-breaking team from last year: our team never ranked lower than 6th in any of the six events, a first in the history of 14 years of the competition.
The Baruch MFE team won Algo Trading, took second place in ETF trading, third place in commodities trading, fifth place in volatility trading and sixth place in credit risk and quantitative outcry.
Congratulations to our winners, Bell Chen, Hongshan Chu, Qinkai (David) Mao, Dmitriy Treyger, Zhaoyue (Robert) Wei, and Gongshun (Gordon) Yin and to our coach Professor Jarrod Pickens! Also, many thanks to the dedicated alumni who continue to help our students, including Allen Chen and Sandeep Bangar from last year’s winning team!
A record number of teams participated this year, including US-based MFE/Math Finance programs: Carnegie Mellon, NYU Tandon, Fordham, UChicago, Columbia, Rutgers, and UMinnesota, among others.
